I'm assembling my 292 Y-block and am to the point where I need to install the oil pan but my car was missing the nut that holds the oil pickup assembly to the oil pan. I have tried both 7/8"-14 and 7/8"-9 jam nuts from the hardware store and the fine thread one will finger-tight about 1 full turn but then gets really tight. I gently tried to tighten it further and there was resistance so I backed it off and found that the edges of the threads were rubbing to the point it would cross-thread if I cranked down on it. Any ideas of where I can source a new nut?

Thanks,
Chris Pond

ChrisI've been enjoying your project for some time now. While I don't have an answer for you, I'm willing to bet someone on here has a spare.

Chris - glad to see you are on here! Did you happen to get that information that I sent you last week?

I can check my stash in the garage to located one of those oil pan tube nuts. If nothing else works out, shoot me an email.
