Can anyone tell me what amperage of a generator I should use in my 57 retractable & what would be the best CCA battery I should use.Or If it would be better to switch over to an alternator if so what size would you recommend? Thank you for your time. Oldgasser (Ron)

If you have a shop manual, it should give the amp spec on the generator. Altenator? In my opinion not really necessary if your all stock but a lot of people have converted to one.

The '57's used a 30 amp generator and regulator, you can use the '58 thru '62 upgrade 35 amp generator with thr 35 amp regulator with no bracket, pulley, or wiring changes. and your battery box should accept the optional battery for '57 which became standard in later years.
