The Master Cylinder (3/9/2014)
I believe those are part of an external oiling kit. A copper tube was routed to one of the studs which was hollow. The oil then flowed through the "machined slot" in the cap to the hole where the overflow tube used to reside to pressurize the rocker shaft.

Hope that kinda makes sense...

Ah-ha, that explains it, there are two studs that have internal allen hex.

Thanks, the Master

I'm assembling a 292 which was a mis-match of parts (C2 block/ECG-C heads) and while sorting parts for re-assembly, came across two aluminium caps that appear to bolt on to the rocker shaft support stand.

I assume at the opposite end to the oil feed.

They are about 5/16" thick, with a machined slot underneath, from one bolt hole to the centre of the cap,
and they do not show in my 56 workshop manual.

* Where do they go?

* Are they needed or of benefit?

A mate dis-assembled the heads, but he is a merchant seaman and can't be contacted at the moment.
