I'm pretty sure a 239 block would weigh about as much as this one does!

I'm pretty sure it's a 1960 motor. Here's crank pictures.

Dennis: I believe that B9AE blocks are all 1959-60 & the mains are drilled deeper than earlier blocks for better holding. 312 versions were also found in Mercurys.

Is the back of the crank shaft completely round? you may have a steel crank motor there but being a B9 more than likely not because that would be too early but you never know!

I can remember a bunch of guys hanging on to it when a quick storm came up. At night I tie it to the truck, sometimes it's loose in the morning.

Frank, I need it for the corners of the canopy out at Columbus. Just need the fourth block now.

Now Dennis, why would you need a 292 block, HMMM?

I cleaned the tops of 2 pistons that were up and found no oversize markings. It measures standard 292 size. I'm guessing it's never been rebuilt. If it was a big truck motor, never rebuilt, a fire engine would make sense.

Large truck or school bus. I have seen that kind of setup also in Fire Engines of the period.... believe it or not. My take is that the large generator would help handle all of those lights and flashers. I did find on Craigslist (up in PA even I believe) that there is a 64? fire engine for sale that has the 292 in it. That front motor mount sure looks like the 60's trucks front mount...
By the way - NICE score!
