Thanks for posting that article, it was exactly what I wanted to know about.
I have a spare '57 Carter AFB; is there any downside to using an adapter such as this?

There should still be plenty of hood clearance as the AFB is not a tall carburetor. That way, I wouldn't have to modify the Teapot and could perhaps sell it. It's an ECZ-L unit, not sure that it's worth anything special.

Don't forget the F codes ran a bigger teapot on a modified (Raised) B intake. Used a bonnet instead of the normal aircleaner

speedpro56 (5/21/2014) Ted Eaton did an article on that, maybe he'll chime in on the modification. Here’ the link to the Holley Teapot modification article that was published in the Y-Block Magazine.http://www.eatonbalancing.com/blog/2013/03/02/modifying-the-holley-teapot-four-barrel-carb-for-late-model-distributors/

As Gary just mentioned, Ted did an article in Y-Blk Mag recently on that very issue.. which is why everyone on here should subscribe to it!

The teapot actually doesn't need any modification for a dual advance distributor. It does need to have one of the vacuum ports plugged to use a 57+ distributor.

Speedpro, I looked it up and you're right, the '57 E-code used Teapots. For some reason I thought it used AFBs. At any rate, I think I have my answer: get a different air cleaner! Fine by me, as I didn't really want to use the oil bath unit.
I already have a '57-style distributor. Doesn't the Teapot require some sort of modification to work properly with the dual-advance distributor?

Forgot to mention I have not tried a teapot on a 57 ford but the air cleaners will work.
