In the center of the distributor cam there is a cotton wick under the rotor button, if you pull that wick out there is a tiny clip which holds the cam on the shaft. If you use a small pick or needle nose pliers you can get it off and pull the cam off then the plate should lift off. Have fun, its a SOB!

Hey Guys,

How in the Hades do you get to the Distributor springs?  I have it down to the slotted plate that goes over the spring posts.  Can I get that plate off to gain better access?
