I think the block would hold a rear main seal without any problem. I would however, look very closely at the bolt holes in the block were that cap was. It appears to be #2 which is the common place for a block to crack. The crack is usually on the passenger side. You will need to find a main cap that closely matches the cracked one and have the block line honed.

Thanks for your thoughts John. I'll ask my machinist to take a close look at the area you mentioned. He thought the little crack at the seal groove would hold as well. Might see you at the shootout in May. And I'll be in touch about a mild performance kit and other goodies.

the main cap in the picture looks like a bearing spun at some point,so a used cap and line bore on all the mains is a must. i agree the small crack at seal aria should be ok, probley ther from new. good luck on your build
