Thanks Paul but everything on the power steering is dry, control valve, lines, fittings, pump and slave. The only thing wet is the outside of the speedo cable at the lowest point and where it crosses the frame. And then there is drips from the center of the frame where it becomes flat. Above the frame on the left side of the steering column it is dry. Is there any oring or washer inside the cable housing where it attaches to the trans? I changed the plastic gear a few years back to correct the speedo and I didn't remember a leak. The back and front of the trans are dry... Thanks

If it's red, it's probably a power steering hose. Check those. Early power steering units used trans fluid, so it's red.
To my knowledge, no way can trans fluid come through the speedo cable.

Been having a Ford Saturday. Finally found(I think) a "red" oil leak that has a drip from the frame right at the left front door hinge that I believe is coming from the speedometer cable. Anyone else ever have this and is there a fix? For sure it's not the PS control valve, slave, pump or lines as the are all dry. I don't think the trans could get any oil to the center of the frame without evidence of some spray elsewhere. I decided to look at the road draft tube filter and could get the cover off but not out of the car thru the top or bottom. Screen filter yes, cover no. The car has power steering and the lines are in the stock holder on the frame. I was able to clean it as it was wedged between the a-arm, exhaust manifold, and # 5 spark plug... Is this normal? Thanks......
