Has your idle dropped? Even a 50 rpm drop may be enough to start the light glowing. Put a quality gauge on the battery and check at idle to see if you really need to worry. My guess is that your idle decreases when you get up to temp.

With a generator does it charge when at an idle or does the rpm have to be higher to produce?

A note on Ammeters: In the event you should convert to an Alternator, you need to remove the Ammeter. Usually the meter is not rated high enough for the output of an Alternator.. If you want a guage, it's recommended to convert to a volt meter and it's also safer.

AAAAH! a minor technicality, complete circuits work much better, glad it was a simple fix and you found it.

I figared it out. The ampere meter was disconnected so once I connected that it completed the circuit.

"There are two small terminals I know it jumps across the two terminals when you start but are you saying the terminal closest to the battery side of the silinod only has power to it when you turn it to start as well?"
Yes.The small terminal gets power from the ignition switch in the Start position, thats what activates the solenoid to engage and send power to the starter and also sends power out of the other small terminal and goes to the coil. In the START position the only things that get power are the starter and ignition.. If you don't have power coming out of the small wire going to the solenoid nothing happens...

There are two small terminals I know it jumps across the two terminals when you start but are you saying the terminal closest to the battery side of the silinod only has power to it when you turn it to start as well? I am pretty sure it does not cause we had to run a jumper wire from the battery side to that terminal will turning the key to start to get it to crank. Does that small terminal on the battery side receive power from the ignition or is it vice versa?

Power only goes to the small terminal on the solenoid when the key is in the START position, there is no power going to it in the ON position. Have someone hold the key in the START position while you check to see if power is coming through the wire that goes to the small terminal.

Does it have a neutral safety switch that could be the issue
