Hey guys I haven't been on here In a while because my trucks body is being worked on. When I parked it 6 months ago it would start up and run like a champ. I had taken the ignition lock cylinder out to paint. Well today I went to start it up and it wouldn't do anything not even click. Battery is good I tested it. I could jump the solenoid and it would crack. Well after using a test light I found out I have no power to the little terminal next to the batt side lug on the solenoid coming from the battery. I was testing it with the ignition on. So I decided to jump from the batt side of the solenoid to the small terminal next to it. I also ran a jumper wire to the coil to give it power. Once I jumped the ignition side small terminal on the solenoid the solenoid would jump over to the starter terminal and it would start and run good as long as I kept power to the coil. This is a brand new solenoid I just put on cause the old one was doing the same thing. My question is what is the schematic for the solenoid doesn't it get it's power straight from the battery and when you turn the ignition on it sends power to the little terminal next to it. Am I getting this wrong am I missing a wire somewhere? I am confused cause I have not touched anything on the engine since it ran last and it would start easy. Any help would be appreciated. Also I could use a drawing of the route from the battery to the ignition. Sorry for the long post.
