I think his is a 914-6. Some have 916 emblems. I don't know if it's something they changed during some year or maybe they are slightly different cars or what. His is 914-6 VW Porsche - because it was a joint venture between Volkswagen and Porsche. Oh, you know, I think the 916 has fender flares and different airdams and such but is the same platform. We're putting a Subaru motor in one of the 4 cyl cars. About 150hp. That will be fun!

charliemccraney (2/17/2009) That is not mine. But the 914 is on my list of cars to have. That belongs to my friend, Rick. The motors are at his house. He has 5 or 6 914s. One is a 6 cyl. They are fun to drive and can be made pretty quick.6 cyl one should be a 916, correct?

Charlie, is that your 914? Haven't seen one of those in years. My soccer coach used to have one, when I was 13, and he would take the guys on wild rides in it. I think that could have been the beginning of my interest in sports cars, although I went British.

If you're interested in selling the bellhousing on the left engine, I'd like to know.

I will guess the car was a 58 or 59, based on the engine. Here they are!

charliemccraney (2/9/2009) I picked up all 4 today. I also got the transmissions. 1 4spd out of an F500, 1 truck 3 spd, 1 car 3 spd, and 1 auto. I want to go back for 1 more auto and 2 4spds. I hope to start tearing down the engines next week. What year is the car 3 speed? I actually need some measurements of a '56 3 speed to I can "adjust" the T-89 before I pull my 3 speed out. Like input shaft length, over all length etc .. I hate to wait until I pull mine out and then start measuring things.
