I have just put the heads on my 312. The heads had been milled and the block has been decked to make it square with the crank. It appears the intake has a gap of .025 at the lower lip of the bottom ports without a gasket in place. The gasket is a Fel-Pro and measures .065-.066. Will I be able to tighten this manifold down and not have a leak?
The heads were milled .043 they are 113's, ported and with BIG Pontiac valves. The manifold is an "E" code aluminum, not perfect it has been welded on the bottom in the heat riser area.
Let me know your thoughts.... I know I can have the heads milled in the port area. Or I can have the manifold milled. OR.. does anyone make a thicker intake gasket with the larger ports for these heads that might work as they are?
