No I live pretty close to you in cumming Ga. I'm building a 1955 ford 2 door post. It will run a 355 CID Y- Block. It made around 500 hp on the dyno. We will run a tremec transmission. I hope to run around 150 at maxton and 175 at Bonnieville. Its hard to estimate to close there's not a lot of info on the aerodynamics of a 55 but it does not take a wind tunnel to know it not to good.

Hello everyone I have been stalking around this site for sometime and when I saw the pics of my wagon from Billetproof I had to post and say thanks its cool to see your hard work appreciated. I was glad to see all the Y-blocks represented down there when I built the wagon and 292 there were not as many around. I have been going to traditional shows for years and often I was the only Y-block around.(of coarse there was alot of correcting people who always thought it was a SBC) Anyway great site and thanks again. Sam

Ya missed one.....

`40 Ford with a Y- block

Sure did. Hmm. What time of the day did you spot this one?

Were you wearing a Y block shirt? I thought I saw one in the crowd.

Hey Henry Floored

Got any more pictures of the '40 with the Y?  That is one of purest old school hot rod installations seen in a long time.  No shot rod and not billet either, something a guy could do in his garage without spending a fortune or a lifetime. Just about perfect in my view.

Hey Charlie;; On the overheat,, take a look atb Casco's water pump with the big vanes;; also Concours makes a smaller water pump pulley. Both of these sure help my Bird!! Hope it helps,, Been in parades and never has overheated.. Charles-- sure appreciate all the help you give out, Thanks to you my distributor is working great. God Bless Eddie

I think it is going to be simple as a fan shroud. I already have one of Frank's pumps so it should be moving enough coolant. It does fine when cruising. I'm glad to help. I'm just returning the favor. None of us got to where we are without asking questions.

hi, first photo; looks like a factory or 257 edelbrock, the carb mountings are too close to be an early intake. then they used small 4bbl to large 4bbl adaptors and of coarse the offy cross ram adaptors. very sweet setup, thanks for the pics., wayne.

I couldn't see the intake well enough to know which it was. It is exactly the way you describe.

Nice Pictures, Charlie.  Was surprised to see the Merc something like mine.  Can't believe they didn't change those crossover exhaust manifolds. They are so plentiful to find for reasonable money.   I'm going to Clearwater for a little get away to some sunshine in a few weeks.  Hope to see a few classics there................ I went to a car show once around Vero Beach & talked to a guy that was the original owner of a 59 Catalina Convertible which was just Gorgeous !!
