Tim and guys, i can add a story on one of these interceptor boats, here in Sydney during the 60,s onwards there was a twin interceptor engined boat used to take tourists for a cruise of Sydney harbour and across the other side to the amusement park, like Coney island. It eventually saw its days out hanging of a mooring near local boat shop and ferry wharf. i heard of it and found it had finally succumed to neglect and sunk, it had been dragged to a little patch of sand near the the wharf and everything but the 2 engines were scrapped. i headed down there with basic tools and asked owner if i could take any parts from the engines, ok! only problem was they were covered at high tide, so working in knee deep water i got the intakes and other uncorroded parts, i then organised tow truck next time to pull them up the wall and onto dry ground but they were removed during council clean up! dang it!. often the twin engined boats had one counter rotating engine turning in opposite direction with a gear driven cam, they had mallory distributors, great valvecover with oil filler cap, they had no rubberised harmonic balancer but solid one like early f100 truck, i guess the prop shaft got rid of the engine harmonics, they came in 292 and 312 and were made by the Eaton corporation. I do have the workshop manual on them if i can find it. best regards bill.

Just by coincidence there is a seller on Kijiji in my area parting out a 312 interceptor motor. No block. He has the aluminum intake with carbs asking $275.00.Are these carbs suitable for car use?Do they have the same accelerator circuitry as the car carbs.Just curious.

Those could work ok in stock daily driver, but might be small on Hot Rod usage?
Set up is very low, so it fits anywhere.

That is excactly the setup being offered for sale.I am thinking about buying it and using it at some point for mine which is stock. They are single barrel carbs are they not?this guy has the manifold and linkage complete and everything moves freely. These manifolds are aluminum so he tells me.Much lighter than stock cast iron.jWhat do you think of asking price at $275.00?He is also going to email me pics od the rocker covers.Says they are chrome with some spots of rust.I dont know if they are stock or afterermarket yet.

The carbs are 1bbl and the same as the Blue Flame vetts. Not big on power but will run. The 6 cyl vette had 3 of them. If you buy this intake make sure you get the water inlets for the heads. They are two seperate pieces held in part by the front intake bolt. They are where the hoses attach in your picture. Without them you will have to fab up water inlets. Chuck

I see the hose on each side going to the water manifolds. What would you have to do to use this setup in a car?How would you install a thermostat and the hose to rad?

You would need a y connector like Smokey Yunnick used to make. Or plumb the radiator for two upper hoses. If you have the adapters there are several ways to do it. I'm not sure about the thermostat but you could probably put a restrictor in the hose connections to slow the water down. Basicly a washer that fits against the cast outlet with a large center hole to let water pass through. Chuck
