there used to be a boat building business in my area".Leecraft" they used to put yblock 312's in their inboards.I saw one recently and it was beautiful.the sound of that 312 was really sweet.they were manufactured in the late 50's and early 60's.I've run across several that have been junked out but wondered how those engines would be in a car.

I have a 63 marine short block in my truck.  The water jackets were severely filled with crud and took a lot of flushing. You can't easily use the timing chain cover oil pan or ex manifolds and the intakes are weird and expensive to get working.

Some marine engines run backwards, which won't work in a car.  I think they were from large boats with dual engines, one forward and one backward rotation to counteract torque.

Wow!  65 mph, thats fast. I have some experience with these old boats and the hull design doesn't break the vacuum of the water as well as new boats.

most marine engines were 292's , the intakes are a little small ,but use 2 side draft ,1 barrels, they look really cool in roadsters account ,everything is below the valve covers. The front covers are really nice to use for front cam drive pieces, marine cast aluminum oil pan also has possibilities. Once these pieces are gone, they won't be coming back !

Most of the ones I've seen are 272s. I do have a 312 block that came out of a boat, so rotton it has holes in the cylinders.
