O.K. Guys,

I have this engine in my 57 Fairlane and want to know if it is a good core / platform to start with and what recommendations you may have to build a strong but reliable driver out of her whilst still retaining a original external appearance in the engine bay of the vehicle. but at the same time want to keep some credibility alongside SBF / SBC powered cars on a run of course!

Engine is a 292? 312? By John Mummerts pages possibly either (312 with ECZ caps 59/60 Mercury) yet to be determined, but doubtful of 312, 4 barrel std Ford manifold with a 4100 Autolite carb 1.08, has a 1963 NOS distributor fitted and ECZ-G Heads so has earlier heads on a later block???? by my limited knowledge! Also running high ratio rockers, Looking at tearing her down in the next 6 months but want to know what parts to start picking up for her rebuild.

All advice appreciated, especially anything to look out for in the teardown with this particular block and heads.

Regards,

JG
