By the way, I've been using a set of their 8mm universal wires for probably 6 years now with no problems. They require a little more work initially but are worth it.

talked to pertronix and the universal plugs are the only ones that work with the 292, just for anybody looking to use these.  Luckily the company I bought mine from are going to exchange them for me and even pay for me to ship them back.  I love stand up companies that back there product.

I don't see an application for a Y-block in their catalog. They have one described as 1954-67 All 8 cylinder engines (excluding 292 engines), part 708105.

There is an application for 1962 Ford trucks, F-100, F-250 with 8 cylinder engines, part 708104.



Now a 62 F100 and F250 V8 will be a Y-block but this same part number is listed for 360, 390, 351, 428, 429, 302, 351C, and 400 engines of various other years. So I'm almost willing to bet that those won't fit right.



I think the best way to go is to get a set of the universal wires. Then you can get the lengths just right. Part 708190 will have 90 degree boots on each end which will work great for a Y.

Already measured them and they come up short but I was thinking that I might just be overlooking something but probably not.  I really dont want to go through the hassle of returning them but will if I have to.  I read someplace on here that others had used these wires that why I thought somebody might have a idea.

Hi,  If it's not too much trouble, I'd measure your original wires and then measure and compare the lengths of the Pertronix set.  Start with the longest Pertronix wire and see if it is long enough to work in the original wiring harness.  I've been through that because I read somewhere that a set of '57 scrub 283 wires would fit on my '57 312.  I got a set of the scrub wires for free, so I tried them.  Some were way too long but I'm using them.  Only #8 was too short to fit into the OE brackets.  Long story short, I'd call Pertronix if they won't fit in the stock Ford brackets and insulators and see what they have to say.  I'd be inclined to get a refund and then get a set from another source.  Good luck, Nick Brann - class of '58

So as part of my distributor overhaul I bought the pertronics spark plug wires to go with the ignitor and flamethrower but when I went to put it all in I found that the wires seem to be too short to run via the original routing.  Has anybody else used the custom 7mm pertronics wires on a 292?  If so how did you route the wires or if anybody has a idea please let them fly.
