Sorry to ask about an FE not a Y- block but..

My 272 with 312 parts needs to be rebuilt badly. Heads are good, intake manifold is 4bl 312 is the good one, dist. is new...but where I live there is no one I trust to rebuilt the engine..new cam, pistons, etc. etc. I think I can get it rebuilt this winter for about 4 grand in and out. I read about the experts on this site having problems with their engine and tappets from China that almost melt away and cams that dissolve.

I don't want to have to go back and forth to the engine shop complaining that the rebuild stinks.

Or, I can pick up a rebuilt 390 for $1800US plus I can get a C6 for about 500, plus putting it in.

My car is not original matching, the block is from a 272...don't know if bored out or not.

I plan on replacing all the suspension bushings when the engine is out to tighten up the front end too. This I can do without paying someone else.

Help, someone make up my mind for me!
