The one he's been selling is a Blue Thunder manifold. The new one is a Mummert manifold - completely his design. So far it's proven to be better in the case of performance. Hopefuly we'll have some dyno results soon showing how it does on more of a mild engine.

There’s no reason the grease can’t stay for the long haul but some sealer around the water jackets would likely allow you to sleep better at night.  I do use K&W Coppercoat on the bottom sides of the gaskets to keep them in place but use white grease on the topside.  Besides the grease allowing the gaskets to be reused several times if doing some quick intake changes, it also allows the intake to be slid around so that it can be properly aligned before tightening the bolts without the gasket being dragged out of place.  This last Saturday morning, I used the same intake gasket set five times on the EMC engine while testing five different intake manifolds and that particular gasket set still appears to have some more intake changes left in it.

My name is Greg and I am addicted to Y's.

The assumption is right, it was meant to be a short 2-4 week install of the iron 2V.  Ted had made mention that he used the white grease during dyno runs when intakes were going to be switched, so I thought ah ha.   John ran into problems and the installation was longer.  However, I have been wondering if the grease idea may be a good one for the aluminum intake to help the increased movement due to expansion contraction.  Read some time ago that early aluminum head failures were due to the fact that machine shop milling of head surfaces used to produce a coarse surface like with cast iron.  It resulted in surfaces not wanting to move while the aluminum did.  They changed their practices for milling an aluminum head with a smoother finish and it helped.  Dont know much of anything for sure.

The type of gasket material may or may not be a player.  These were cheapos with no metal shieldiing.

I assume white grease used so as to simplify gasket change. Not recommended for permanent installation though?
