If you can get at it, I have found that light upward hits with a rubber mallet work quite well. Don't hit the vacuum canister, as tempting as it may be. It doesn't take much to brake it off.

Wrap the dist housing with several wraps of heavy duct tape (90 MPH tape). Then try to move it back and forth with a pipe wrench while spraying with PB blaster or WD 40. Once you get it moving a few light taps with a plastic mallet should get it out.

Itman: Penitrating oil and patience! Let it soak overnight & use the before mentioned methods. "Light" tapping can also be helpful.
