Got a load of engine sheet metal parts back from the machinist the other day, and found out that the screen on the oil pickup tube still looked to be pretty clogged up. The machinist said he couldn't do any more with it??? There is a baffle/plate that covers most of the screen. Is it ok to ditch the baffle or is it really necessary (55 Ford Club Sedan, 292, C2AE block, stock oil pump) to keep? How can I clean that screen effectively? (looks like old oil deposits and black crud)
