MarkMontereyBay (2/5/2010) ..... Anyone know if Webers were ever used on American Y blocks?I haven’t seen a cast production intake for the Y but that necessarily doesn’t mean one wasn’t made in small numbers somewhere. Here’s the only Weber manifold I’m aware of for the Y.

Ted, I think that weber intake is made by PIERCE MANIFOLDS, INC, certainly looks good! I've always thought european carbs never look good on fords? We all owe you a big thanks for your R &D work on our engines amongst your normal work. regards bill.

Wow...that is a pretty exotic piece. I had imagined the carbs being aligned with the stacked ports instead of rotated. Makes for a twisty ride for the fuel/air mix into the head.

Tim, I thought in your previous post you said you were sticking with carbs? Now high bidder? sly dog you. Best of luck on bidding, I have too many projects to complete now that I have my shop done, so my money is definately allocated elsewhere.

The Y-Block Weber intake that’s pictured is actually by Hogans Manifolds. I haven’t seen the Pierce Manifold offering for the Y but there’s likely some examples out there somewhere.

The last one that sold for $4000 had everything with it! Pump, magnito, etc. All you needed to install it on your car. This one isn't worth near that. Chuck in NH
Y's guys rule! Looking for McCullouch VS57 brackets and parts. Also looking for 28 Chrysler series 72 parts. And early Hemi parts.

I wonder how many models Hilborn made? It looks like AussieBill's Hilborn setup has the barrel valve on the valley Cover and the one for sale on E bay has it on a bracket from the left side module. The original Hilborn system was not forgiving for the street. It had no real method for controlling the A/F mixture at part throttle. The Barrel valve made an attempt at controlling fuel flow as a function of throttle position which corrolates somewhat to air flow. Also the fuel pump was centrifugal so that as the engine speed increased the pressure increased even faster (at the Square of speed) thus increasing flow through the nozzles. There was also an oriface called a 'pill" that controlled recycled fuel rate. But at part throttle and say 3000 RPM there was no way the system could derive the right fuel flow to the nozzles and also the reduced flow rates meant reduced pressure to the nozzles so they would not atomize the fuel at all well. The Battle Bird road race car had A hilborn system but it must have been a handful on a road course. Here is a link to see it http://www.tbirdsbygil.com/Battle%20Bird.htm
