grovedawg (3/25/2010) The main journal does measure 2.62.... So, is the jury still out? That's a 312.

It's true that not all 312s have the dot but that pic that John posted is a dead give-away.

I have 312 cranks both with and without the dot on the flange. Both have the ECZ casting clearly marked into the crank counterweights.

I have seen 312 cranks with no dot. The pics will help you identify. 292 crankshaft

Any 312 cranks I've seen had ECZ cast into the counterweight. Main journal dia. should be 2.624 at standard size. The 272-292 @ 2.498 in standard. Barry

Measure the diameter of the main bearings and post the results. The 312 had larger mains. Did it come from ebay? Pete

I just bought a crank from a guy online, who said it was a 312... It shows up and their are no casting numbers on it. And there is no "aspirin-sized" dot on the outer edge of the crank like you see on Tim's site about identifying the crank:
http://yblockguy.com/yblock_003.htm
Did I just buy a paper weight?
