I was given a set of G heads this weekend which has given me some questions. I checked the measuring blocks on the side of the heads and had the following result. Measuring from the end block with no bolt hole to the one with. Head 1, 1.002", 1.005", 1.006", 1.001". Head 2, .995", .997", .995", .990". Obviously one head has been surfaced and the other not, but I found it curious that measurements on one head would vary so much. Now for the question. If the one that has already been milled is flat should I just mill the other to match or, should I have both milled to a specific spec, say .015 removed, and if so how much? Engine is s 312 with a Clay Smith 265 cam used as go to shows and puttering around car. Thanks, Mike
