If you call Robin at Superior Friction in San Jose, CA he can put together just about any clutch combo you need.  His phone # is 408-436-1101.  If nothing else he can probably answer some questions for you.

Gerald, any Long style 11" pressure plate will bolt to your flywheel. Most 11" Ford discs for a 1963 or later car or 65 or later truck should work. It must have a 1-1/16" 10 spline hub, but that includes just about everything with a V8. You can't use the original truck pressure plate because it was made for a thicker disc. Any pressure plate made for a thinner disc won't work with the original throwout bearing. Any throwout bearing that will work with the new pressure plate and will fit the T-5 won't fit the truck clutch fork. That is why we made a new throwout bearing that adapts the truck clutch fork to the smaller 49-64 passenger car or 65 and later truck and car transmissions.

Clear as mud?

Gerald;

For what it's worth, I'm using the stock flywheel and an 11" "Centerforce" clutch and pressure plate behind my modified 292 with the same T-5 conversion except that my set-up is in a '56 Customline. You will pay a little more for the Centerforce clutch set-up, but it makes for a light clutch pedal and I like it alot.

Good Luck!

Thanks. Is it a Mustang application? Do you by any chance have a part or ID #? I looked at the Centerforce site and it was super-confusing (or at least to me). Did you have to re-drill your flywheel?

BTW: I just revisited John's site and saw this:

"Due to the difference in thickness of a truck and car clutch disc the pressure plate must be changed to a car pressure plate or the clutch will slip.

Using a car pressure plate requires a special throwout bearing.

We make the special throwout bearing."

I was thinking the reason I got Mummert's bearing was to use the Y-Block PP. Guess I'll call John tomorrow and confirm.

1.You will not be able to use the stock plate with his bearing. The spread of the fingers is too large. The bolt pattern for the 11" Y pressure plate is the same for many 11" plates. I'd imagine any small block 11" clutch will work.

Gary, what is the application you're using?

To use an 80s Mustang clutch, you will have to drill the stock flywheel

2 + 3. You will be able to find many 11" discs that will fit the T5. It doesn't have to be a Mustang application. All 11" discs are not the same. They have to be the appropriate thickness for the pressure plate. I don't know how this can be determined when mixing and matching. It's probably best to buy a kit.

I'm in the process of putting a Mustang T-5 behind my 292 Y-Block in my 63 F100 Uni. I had John Mummert modify my truck 3 speed bell housing and bought his throughout bearing. I was operating under the assumption that I would use the 292 flywheel and bell housing and use an appropriate Mustang clutch disc in order to fit the T-5 spline. I started searching for the parts online and now I am really frustrated and confused.

I guess my questions are:

1. Can I use the Y-block pressure plate which measures 11"? (I'm assuming mine needs replacing) and want to do so while I have the engine/tranny out. Or do I need to use a Mustang pressure plate and have my old flywheel re-drilled?

2. And, if I can use my Y-block PP, will I be able find a Mustang 11" clutch disc? If so can someone point me to a source?

3. I was under the impression that you could buy a clutch disc and pressure plate separately, but all the one's I find are in a "kit", which runs the cost up considerably.

Can anyone help me out here? Thanks in advance.
