If the fuel in Brazil can handle 9.0:1 compression I think the domed pistons will help performance a great deal. I believe your heads are around 75cc chamber. Even with Zero deck height the compression will be low with flat top pistons.

It would help to know the weight of the truck and gear ratio before recommending a cam. I would guess that the truck weighs around 3600 pounds (1636 kilos).

I have some friends here with 9,5 - 10:1 compression with flat top pistons... It's not a ''top work'' like if we use dome pistons, but the cost for import parts here is very high, we pay something like 60% of taxes, so the parts arrive to me (final customer) for twice the price, sometimes more... my will sure is get the dome pistons, but my pocket isn't deep enough... BigGrin

Yes, my head is 75cc chamber, the pickup is 1.720 kilos (3.784 pouds). The diferential is a dana 44 , 46/13 (3,54). The gear ratio (FSO-2305-B):

Lucas , cam will definitly help along with domed pistons. We can also aupply 1.84" intake valves, yours are probably 1.64" now.
I thought the 1979 would be a Faze II not a Faze 1. Our cams will only fit Faze 1 engines.
Cam and lifters= 355.00
Domed pistons and rings= 565.00
1.84" stainless valves= 88.00
We can accept Visa and Mastercard and shipp to Brazil.

Sorry, didn't understand what you said...

I think he meant to say that he put a Y-Block in a ’78 Ford pickup and the Y dropped right in. At least that’s how I interpret it. Ford quit putting Y’s in the

U.S.

built trucks in 1964.

I think he meant to say that he put a Y-Block in a ’78 Ford pickup and the Y dropped right in. At least that’s how I interpret it. Ford quit putting Y’s in the

U.S.

Absolutely. Recent dyno testing and past experiences of others indicate that about 280hp is possible without any exotic work.

What's your goal with the engine? Will it be a race car or street car? Do you want a lopey idle or a smooth idle? Are you running an automatic or manual transmission? Does fuel economy matter?

It is a street car, but i want as mutch horsepower as I can get (with a stock engine). I want a middle term about idle and fuel economy, It's more like a weekend pickup, but sometimes I use it during the week, but horsepower is wat I want! BigGrin
