I had a small gathering with the T-Bird club in New Hampshire a few years ago. They were helpful but only to a point. Attendance was fair for the Y-Blockers so it did seem to be an Idea.
I would suggest checking into existing venues that we could attach ourselves too. Like a drag meet or outdoor car show. Many of these hosts will provide a parking area for specific cars if there are enough of them.
Try something small to start with like a one day meet and see what the local Y's guys response is. Flyers given out as cruise nites etc. cost very little and help bring attendance. Always be on the lookout for "new" members/y-blockers. There are MANY out there that are not online or haven't heard of our group. They will often want to see "how it goes" the first year or so before attending.
Most of all publicize the event wherever possible. Local papers have free sections for coming events also all the online car hobby sites and the local Cruising list or magazine.
Good luck, and keep us posted on the progress. Chuck in NH
