Anyone ever thought of the idea of having a Y block regional meet? Outside of Carlisle or Columbus? I know that in our neck of the woods (Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania), it seems like we could have a few Y blockers together on a weekend for a show, get together, racing, or whatever. I just spent the good part of the day with Cactus, and I know Dennis, the leaky plumber, lives not too far away from me. Jerry's just about 45 minutes away or so, and then there are a few others I've met at Carlisle or in southern Virginia...what do you say guys?

Good idea Daniel, we've certainly had a few meet us at El Mirage, it would be nice to have them all come at the same time. Anyone on the west coast we will be out in Nov. for the last meet of the year for the SCTA, I believe that Charlie, Todd, Chris and myself will be there. That is a good start.

Mason/Dixon dragway in Hagerstown MD had a nice Ford show and drags about the 3rd week in August. This year it was on a Sunday, last year it was on a Saturday. It's a nice event, I like going there. In 2 weeks the jalopy shown drags is at Beaver Springs dragway, I'm going there. That's a nice event too. It's on a Saturday Oct. 2nd.

I asked some time ago about a Ford only car show. I can get the American Legion fairgrounds/ball fields for a meet. Space for hundreds of cars, thousands of campers , and one or two vendors. Just need to get over my current ailment and I can look into it in better detail. This would be in Hickory NC Exit 128 off I-40. Plenty of hotels, restaurants, and a Wal-Mart for all the shoppers. If you all can wait till I get my mind back in place I can look into it further. If interested.

How about right here, in Atlanta, so you all can actually see my alleged truck. Hickory is doable. It's about a 4 hour drive for me.

I sold Charlie a pair of G heads a few years ago. I doubt he would spend that much for a couple of doorstops, and they won't fit his Firebird, so he must have a truck with a Y block.

I had a small gathering with the T-Bird club in New Hampshire a few years ago. They were helpful but only to a point. Attendance was fair for the Y-Blockers so it did seem to be an Idea. I would suggest checking into existing venues that we could attach ourselves too. Like a drag meet or outdoor car show. Many of these hosts will provide a parking area for specific cars if there are enough of them. Try something small to start with like a one day meet and see what the local Y's guys response is. Flyers given out as cruise nites etc. cost very little and help bring attendance. Always be on the lookout for "new" members/y-blockers. There are MANY out there that are not online or haven't heard of our group. They will often want to see "how it goes" the first year or so before attending. Most of all publicize the event wherever possible. Local papers have free sections for coming events also all the online car hobby sites and the local Cruising list or magazine. Good luck, and keep us posted on the progress. Chuck in NH
