Noticed an inquiry re freeze plugs over in technical. Just for info, it was pointed out in a recent blurb in a Mustang magazine, that the term "freeze plug" is misleading. Correctly they are "core plugs" used in the original casting procedures. They were not intended or guaranteed to protect an engine from freeze up. So, since it's November, time to check your anti freeze coolant...

I suppose the common term "Freeze Plug" would mean more to a young Mustang enthusiast - if he ever saw some pushed out of a block due to the liquid beneath becoming somewhat solid??????? 

Probably comes from basing all of these automotive outfits in Southern California - my purchasing guy came to work the other day in a winter coat (he's from San Diego) and the temp was 49°F.

It was the arctic Parka that tweaked my funny bone - chill is chill - but 3 inches of loft and knit cap is bit much for the first week of November in southern AZ.
