Got my truck driving, worked great for about 2 days. Then it died, I could get it to restart but it would barley got 1/4 mile and die again until it eventually wouldn't go at all.
Got it home, checked the points and some other stuff and it fired up and would idle fine.
Drove it and didn't even make it a mile and it's doing the same thing. Tow it home again.
I installed a pertronix 3 ignition and new coil, same problem.
Seems to me like something is getting hot and shutting down?????
Any ideas on what might be causing this? '59 f250 w 292 yblock V8
When it dies I can pump the gas and see fuel spraying into the carb(there is also a clear filter before the carb so it's getting gas.) I also pulled a plug and it is getting spark. When I try to restart, it sometimes backfires, and makes hissing sounds like air shooting out the carb. Wondering if I have a timing problem, just not sure why it only comes up after a while and not right away.
