I bought a hurst mystery shifter on ebay, about 47$ delivered. No linkage, probably have to make that, I already altered the tunnel for the Chinese shifter, hope it clears.

thanks, Mark

It is what they called the mystery shifter, and in my opinion it is the best shifter Hurst ever built for a 3 speed. The shifter part is universal. It is the mounting brackets and levers that were model specific. There is a NOS shift box on eBay right now , item no. 330518775649 , that I would buy if I didn't have so many already. I have bought a lot of T86 gears from the guy and also gears for the GMC pickups I play with.

Crenwelge, is that a Hurst syncromesh shifter? Ive seen them on ebay for around $100 bucks. Looks like thats the way Im going to go, since I cant find any info on the Jeep trans upgrade.

Richard, Could you provide me with a measurement from the tip of the fan to the rear of the dizzy or rearmost valve cover, please? I'm doing some prelim mock ups for a Y in a '29 Coupe and that would be helpful. Thanks and sorry about the hi-jack, RB

If it is a T86, it will have a tin cover on the top of it. If it is a T86, I have one setting out with a Hurst shifter on it that I can photograph. The Hurst shifter will work in a 56 Ford with a bench seat and I am quite sure it will work in a later one with a bench. I added a photo of a T86 with a Hurst shifter I took some time ago.

Thanks to all the response, I've been a little sick and have not checked the site for a couple days. Tom, I think we talked about the trans numbers before, I'm not sure how to I.D it. It has the electric solenoid sticking out the side, the three shift arms. Next time I'm at the shop I'll snap a picture, and record the numbers.

thanks, Mark
