I got a 55 driver's door as a replacement for my 56 2dr/ht. As you all know the mouldings are different, therefore the holes for the moulding clips are not in the right place for the 56 stainless and scripe "Victoria". What I need, is for someone who has a 56 driver's dr for a 2dr/ht Victoria without the mouldings installed, make a template. Just a piece of large paper with maybe three location points ie: front edge, rear edge and top or bottom edge. Then just run a carbon pencil over the points where the mounting holes for the clips would be. Is there anyone that can help?. I could wait until the dr is on, but this would be a lot easier with the dr sitting on the bench. Also need the mounting location holes for the Victoria scrip

FTY6 Vic ,

Dont know for sure ,but aren't the door latches different on 55 to 56 doors ????. If you have the mouldings off the 56 door ,measure the other side door  on the car ( ie;leading edge of door to beginning of moulding ,etc, etc.) Measure all points  and take a template on the good door and transfer them (Reverse side ) to 55 door .You should be able to mark out where all the holes need to be drilled .Hope this makes sense ??

Regards Lon

I have a 55 door on my 56 and put the trim on as Lon suggested.Took measurements from the other door.I drilled the holes a little oversize to allow a little adjustment capability.

Lon,you're correct,55 and 56 doors have different latches, but they will interchange. There are some other very slight differences in the doors, but they don't prevent swapping them, and are unnoticable on the car.
