my speedo cable has broken in my 292 with ford o matic gear box but i dont know what cable i need to order .

i have put pictures below can someone tell me what i need to order.how does the cable come apart or do you just slide a new cable inside the out side sleeve.

this is the cable i took out today.

this is the end from the gear box does this come apart????

this is the end from the speedo clock.

this is the end from the speedo clock.

 

The inner cable is normally pulled out from speedo end, you will have to remove gear retaining clip with small screwdriver to enable you to pull broken end out of cable.

Most of the ford suppliers have both styles, I don't remember if it was concours or carpenters, but they had a picture of both types of cables. Very inexpensive.

If I am not mistaken that is the 57 and later style with the clip.The car cables are all the sme after 57(most anyway) just different lengths.What is the overall length of the outer cable?49-56 cables which Carpenter sells are one length only of 70 inchs but they do not use the clip to hold the gear on.

just measured my cable it is 70" in lengh.

all i really need is the internal cable

still havern't found any where that sells the cable i need ,checked out carpenters website dont seam to sell to cable i need.

any one got any where else i could try please.??????????
