The truck has been started, but only run a little, what do you recommend to flush the engine with any deposits over the last 16 years. The truck was always stored in a garage.

It's generally not recommended to EVER flush an engine's oil system as you can knock loose particles that could plug oil passages.
If one of those "particles" were to block an oil passage leading to a main bearing you could have catastrophic results!!
Just change the oil, use a good modern straight SAE 30W, 10W30, 15W40 or other oil that contains enough ZDDP (zinc) for older engines.
Many of us use a 15W40 type oil.
After I get my rebuilt 292 running and broken in, I'll probably use a synthetic 0W-30 oil like Mobil 1.
