Just about to do another FMX / FOM conversion. I have to ask a question ??? Is the input shafts the same on early 54 FOM as late 57 ??? I sold the 2 spare  late model FOM I had ,now I need the front shaft from one . A mate has an early 54 auto that I can have .Just want to make sure before I send them off to be rebuilt .I have a late model convertor and a front pump . Still chasing a late model flexplate .

Thanks Bill ,

If it turns out the early 54 is different I will buy the shaft from you . Flex plates are hard to find . When I do find one I am going to approach an engeering / laser cutter  shop to see what the cost is to have them made ???? I don't think I would have any trouble selling them .

Hey Lon, I have one left, I don't really want too get rid of it. But if you want to have it reverse engineered, I will be glad to loan it too you. I think that Mac's has the std shift ring gears, so it should not be that hard to make something like the Flat o matic C4 flexplate.

Glen ,

Thanks for the offer .Doing a bit of research at present on getting a ring gear laser cut. It then has to be heat treated .I can also get the centre section of the flex plate laser cut . The problem is having the centre bit pressed so it has all the factory lumps & bumps in it . Than the whole box & dice has to be welded & balanced . I will keep you posted if I can come up with a reasonable price . Don't think I would have any problems selling them ???

Lon

PS . Good luck with Columbus ,whatever way you decide .

Lon, its allways hard getting something remade in limited numbers , especially here, i have had some things done over the years, but majority of others were just out of the financial question. I hope it works, regards bill.

Lon: RE auto trans parts; might try a guy in the eastern states, name is Edwards, sorry can't find my full info, but apparently he has a warehouse full of vintage auto trans parts. May have Flex plates? Try Hemmings or maybe someone here can come up with an address etc.

I've had a couple PM"s about the difference in Y block flexplates, so I though I would post a pic on Lon's thread.

The one on the right is a 57 and the one on the left is 58 and later. Hope this clears up some questions for some off you guys.
