Hello All, 

I am seriously considering pulling the FMX out of my 56 and going with a Tremac 5 speed. I can find a pedal set up for my car and need to know what else I would need, if I use a Mummert adaptor plate? I assume I need a Y Block standard bell housing and flywheel. Can I use my stock starter or do I need a new mini starter? Also is a Mustang 5 speed the way to go, I was told I would have to cut my bench seat if I do this? Someone told me to use a 5 speed out of an S-10 chuv? I know this is a sacraligeous, but I was told the shifter is in the middle of the tranny, not the rear? Will the Mummert plate bolt to this tranny? Lastly I was told to use a hydraulic clutch? Don't know much about these, any idea what parts I would need?

Sorry for all the questions, but just want to see if this is a viable option. I LOVE banging gears, and figure this may give my old Y a little more on the bottom end, not to mention better gas mialiage at the top! (Needed for $5.00 + / gallon gas up here!)

I love the smell of burning rubber in the morning!

Thank you for all the replies, it looks like this is plausable. Smile One last question:  excuse my ignorance on this but would the nuetral safety switch be worked through the shiftor or the clutch pedal???
