Does it expand back to normal if you remove the radiator cap with the system cold? Could be that the cap is venting pressure (over the cap rating) when the system is hot - but not allowing free return into the system when it all cools off.

How old is the hose? Is it really soft? If it is really soft and/or old, I would replace it.
Radiator caps are fairly cheap - replace it and see if the problem goes away.
