Well, after getting my harmonic damper installed the outer ring has come loose. I cannot afford a new one right now. I was planning on putting a new one on my overhauled 292 next year. I have re-oriented the timing marks by observing the camshaft and the piston for the number one cylinder. This way, I can adj. the valves, time it, etc. The damper ring is behind the crank pulley, so it should not walk off. Will this get me by for a cruiser? Has anyone ever had one come apart violently or cause damage?
