After struggling for a bit last night I managed to free up the dizzy. Its super dirty and when I spin the gear it feels like something is making it drag besides the points. I can pull on the shaft and then it goes away. Im not sure if this normal. Here are a few pics.

Well since the motor I have for the truck now doesnt have a dizzy I was going to take the one out of the original motor. Well it wont free up and come put. Also the line on the vaccum advance was capped off and the dizzy is super dirty. Im not too sure what to do about that one.

Also when I got the motor it didnt have a timming indicator and no markings on crank pulley. Another thing is I had taken the oil pump off for inspection and painting. What is the correct way of installation and prep for the pump?

Looking back at your old motor painting thread - I'd say its a 272 /292 - not the older model. So party on....Smile

Be sure the new dizzy settles clear down snug on the block - the oil pump drive is fairly short and you can end up with an engine that fires and operates - but no oil pressure......

Just leave the valve covers loosely in place when you  try to start up - and then it will be an easy operation to set the valve lash. Y-blocks don't have pressurized lifters - just a bit of flow to the rocker shafts, so you won't have a mess like with a Chebbie.
