Been gone a long time guys but still Y blockin down da road. Came up with another one a few yrs back I've been messin with and it is a real humdinger. A 64 Ford one ton, 4WD, Spicer aux, 4spd, with a 292. A 36 Ford truck cab mounted on original frame and it's a log truck, old, old, old style log truck. I've taken it to 4 car shows and came home 3 times with best of show. Don't know how to post pic's here but could email them to someone.

Anyway I'm wanting to replace the original oil filter assy  with the new style direct to the block replacement kit. Any ideas of who makes the best one. I put one on my 55 Merc yrs ago but wasn't overwhelmed with it and don't remember where I got it so would like the best one if there is such a thing. Not a big deal but can't keep the seal from leaking at the block.Tnx Terry

There are two types available nowadays. The pressed steel one you probably used years ago and a real high quality one made from billet aluminum.the pressed steel ones need to be tinkered with to make sure they contact the block gasket firmly. It involves knocking the centre section out a bit further using a socket. I remember reading about this on this forum previously. The billet adaptors are sold on eBay and made by someone in the states. Just search under yblock in the motors section. They have also been mentioned here before.

Other than the billet one, Mac's had the best one that I've seen. The plate is heavy duty and they have available an extra thick gasket (not part of the kit).

The billit ones are sold by Charlie Dover here in Asheville NC and are the best you can get, they look great and don't leak.
