You can block the lower block vent with a diamond shaped plate and run the rear. You can also change the rear vent to a PCV valve. There are notes on how and what to use on the sight. I've been told that the block off for a VW bug (either oil or gas, I forget) will fit the vent hole. Chuck

I have to ask another thing too

Is it possible to just plug the crankcase ventilation filter and tube in the front end of the block of my 57 engine IF I use the valley pan from my 59 engine with the rear ventilation tube ?

Have to ask since I did not get a valley pan for the 57 engine.

Looking at what you said in Charlies note, the numbers quoted are average?, best ever? doesn't really seem like a significant amount of difference between them.

Charlie, you are correct, based on what John said. I did not realize my 471's were this good.

Ford sold the -113 heads as replacements for ECZ-G heads so they felt the heads were interchangeable.

The -113 will flow slightly more but the G head has slightly higher compression. I think the performance would be nearly identical.

I would use which ever set was in the best condition.

It's been discussed here. 471s flow better than 113s which flow better than G's.

I did look at stock head comparisons on a site which included other makers as well and the stock 113s slightly outflowed the Gs. They also outflowed the generals heads of that era as well. This may have been on Mummerts site in the past??

Yep.

www.y-blocksforever.com/forums/Topic61587-3-1.aspx?

A set of stock 113s was not tested but a ported set took the top spot of the iron heads. Of course, this does not necessarily mean that the casting is superior; it may be better port work.

From what I understand the 113s are all posted and with the unshrouding of the intake valve which is better than the G heads they will flow alittle better so the 113s might actually be a better choice. The 113s seem to be the ones most hotrodders want. There's only about a 1/2 point differents in compression the Gs at or about 9.5 to 9.7 and the 113s at 9.
