Turn signals have not canceled for years. Have wheel off to re finish and can't see what is wrong. Nothing broken, looks fine. I am questioning the posibility that the sleve on the stering wheel that actualy cancels the signal is indexed on the wheel. Looks like it could be in the wrong position. How is it located on the wheel? I know it is just a force fit. Can see not inedx marks. Been years since I have been inside this assembly and just can't seem to see what else it could be.

Is the pawl in one piece? They often get split. Chuck

Yes, as near as I can tell nothing is broken or bent. The positioning of the canceling cam  that is on the steering wheel is what I am questioning. Put a new Ford wheel on it back in the mid '70's and for the life of me do not remember if it worked at that time. I am thinking it did and quit working at some time but I would not bet my life on it. The part you have shown is different than anything in mine. The parts book shows the pawl that is in my car but it is not the one in your picture.

Could be the way the wheel is clocked. Perhaps the tab on the wheel is shorter than the original. It would probably help if you could compare your wheel to a stock one. Someone on the site may be able to post a picture of a T-Bird wheel with measurements for the cancelation tab. Chuck
