I'm looking for an Autolite 4100 that I can just bolt on and use. Are there any trustworthy and reasonable sources for this carb? I'm thinking about getting one for my B manifold to replace the firepot on my '56 292.

I hope that you realize that the original '56 distributor will not work properly with the 4100. You should upgrade to a '57 or later distributor.

Took care of that late last year. The PO had the wrong vacuum advance on the distributor which probably added to my fire problem last summer.

You might want to check out the new carbs being sold by Summit. They are very similar to the Autolite 4100 carbs. Pete

I've looked at them and I'm not sure which to go with. The one concern I have is are their carbs made in china? There is no way I'm knowingly putting anything that's made in china on this car.

If you are flush, try PONY. They sell super high quality re-plated rebuilds that are test run & tuned, but you pay through the nose.

I believe Pony's closed, the owner passed away. I'd call Summit and ask. The carbs were originally Holleys so the tooling is most likely American. Does not mean it's manufactured here. The small Edelbrocks (500s) are good canidates as would be the new Demon street carbs. In fact I think Ted has tested some of them.

There are some others out there, do a search on Carbs or if you have access to Hemmings Motr news look in that. I bought one from an outfit I believe from New Mexico< the problem was they advertised a 1.08 for a great price so I bit the bullet< when the carb arrived it was a 1.12. I called them and informed them I ordered the 1.08 and they siad they modified this one to run like a 1.08. I was supposed to send them a core and informed them I was not since they did not send me the correct carb I ordered. The carb did run great on my 301Y for a few years and then last summer it started acting up. When I opened it up the high speed jets were plugged with Mosquitos< how they got in there I dont know but I do live in Maine and the Mosquitos will carry you away here!
