The solenoid IS a relay. It is all you need.

Hoosier Hurricane (3/18/2013) To relocate the dipstick, knock the plug from the block (from the bottom side) and install the truck dipstick tube. Use the oil pickup that's in the truck pan. Your local parts store should be able to get gaskets. If your truck already has a starter solenoid on the inner fender or firewall, it will energize the starter. If it's been removed, your local parts store can supply one. The passenger water pump will bolt to the truck cover.the starter solenoid was taken from the truck so I am trying to figure out what all I need on the starter system. Is this just the solenoid or is there any type of relay?

So I can use the car water pump on the truck cover? I pulled the truck pan, cover and front mounting bracket off of my 292 today. Just need to get them cleaned up and put on the 272. Where is a good place to buy gaskets for this engine? So I need to relocate the dip stick and oil pickup. Should I use the oil pickup tube from the truck motor?
Also I need to figure out what solenoid I need with this starter. Can someone please advise?
thank you
