I have a 4spd bellhousing, so will the imput shaft still need to be trimmed???? the kit from mummert comes with a new clutch assembly and throwout and pilot bushing, then?????    I am gonna go with a hydralic clutch. factory style. i sure dont wanna use the s10 t-5. just somthing bout a chevy part in a ford. not right in my opinion.  the shift can be made to work with a lil creativity i take it.

I used the 3spd truck bell housing, and I used the adapter. If you use the 3spd truck bell housing, you won't have to do make any modifications to the bell housing, it's a bolt-up with that adaptor.

I was referring to the input shaft, it was a very minor cut if I remember correctly.

I will attempt to put some pictures op here, but we will see if it works or not. If it doesn't I can email them to you, or you can view them at slick60s.org just search the albums for my user name, unibodboy.

          I did the T-5 deal to my '60 F100 292 a few months ago.

1. You can use a #6203 ball bearing for the pilot.(get the one sealed on both sides)

about $6-8 at most motorcycle stores or call me I'll send you one.

2.Mummert's adapter works great.(just hacksaw about 3/8 inch off imput shaft

and smooth the edges)

3.I used the "long" style clutch.

4.On to the shifter, I'm cheap,so I cut a small rectangle plate(3/16 thick) drilled

the two holes to mount to the stub of the shift mechanism and welded a piece

of 1/2" re-bar custom bent to bring it out from the seat. The "shifter" is approx.

12/15" tall, put a dirt bike "grip" on it and it works fine. Will not work on a SHOW

truck!!!! Mine's a driver, so I don't mind .( The shifter looks(shaped!) like one from

a 55-57 chevy Hurst model.)

5. My truck's got a Hyd. clutch, so I  can't help on the linkage deal.

6. Any decent driveshaft shop should be able shorten your shaft and fit the

correct slip yoke.       Hope this helps...... Bill

Unibody- Ok so need a couple of specifics from you on the post above:

So you used the Modified truck bell housing, correct?

You said the shaft needs to be shortened on the tranny.. Did you mean The imput shaft?

Any Pics available on your shifter mods??

Thx!

Contact mummert, and use his whole setup. I think it cost me about 450 bucks for a new clutch disk, modified throwout bearing, and everything else needed including adapter. Definitely worth it in my humble and young opinion.

Send me your email address, I have a couple of pictures you might like to see. I had a couple of problems with the installation, they are as follows:

1). The shaft on the 94 T5 is too long and does need to have a slight amount taken off of it.

2). The T-5 is longer than your current transmission. It sets your shift hole back almost to the back of your tranny tunnel. I modified a small hump tunnel by cutting a new hole, and welding up the old one. I also had to make a custon shift handle, because the hole comes out almost underneath you seat.

3). You will need to either modify your original driveshaft, or have a new one built. I have a LWB unibody, and opted to creat a one piece driveshaft which I think is probably a sustain and helps out quite a bit. My truck is lowered, and with a 4 inch OD driveshaft I still have plenty of clearance on a LWB, so you should be good clearance wise with the crossmember.

4). Once installed, my mechanical linkage clutch adjustment is almost not long enough, and has to be adjusted as far out as it can go. I am planning on installing a hydraulic clutch, many setups are available to add these to your t-5, but not much has been done on the 61-66 ford trucks.

5). You will obviously need to get a new speedo gear, and probably will have to have the whole cable built. You can have one custom built for you for about $75 bucks plus shipping @ tacoma speedometer. They do a fabulous job.

I can't think of anything else right now, because it's been almost 3 years since I made the swap. Probably the best modification i've done to this pickup, it made it much easier to drive at all levels. Good luck.

hey guys. gota quick question for you guys who have installed the t-5 into the 61-66 trucks with the 292. did you use the adapter plate and the 94 and up t-5 from a mustang???? for those of you who did use the 94 and later mustang t-5,  what clutch set did you use????(diaphram, long, mustang, truck, etc)  what pilot bushing did you use?????  was it the stang pilot bushing or is ther a custom pilot bushing that is needed. is the transmission  x-member needed????  the reason i am asking is i am in the middle stages of planning for to do the t-5 swap on my 64 ford f100 and i am looking at the adapter plate and the 94-later t-5 so i am looking for the nitty gritty.  what parts you all have used, stuff you dont read about, etc. thanx guys.
