Howdy all,

I'm getting ready to make up my exhaust system using ceramic coated Rams Horns on my largely stock 292.

Does anyone think I need to use exhaust pipe larger than 2"  (like maybe 2 1/4" )  from the manifolds to the mufflers and back?

Thanks,

Rick

Hi Rick

If you are using Mummerts ram horns check the outlet diam.  I'm setting up a temporary exhaust for a test bed and assumed the outlet diam. to be 2" (I know measure 3...4....5 times

cut/ spend money once)  so it came as a surprise to find 2" pipe falls right in. The outlet is nearer 2-1/8".    So 2-1/4" would give a nice step of 1/16" in the right direction but check bolt clearance as the bolt fixing  centres is 3".  I had to make my own flanges as I could not find any 2 bolt on 3" centres.

good luck with the project

2" will be more than adequate.  Also, larger than 2" will not fit the flange if it is the same as original manifolds.

Thanks Ted!

That's exactly what I was looking for!

I had to make my own flanges as I could not find any 2 bolt on 3" centres.

good luck with the project

Yeah.  I too am going to make my own flanges.   Sure wish John offered them for the manifolds.........

Still haven't decided if I'll use SS or mild steel.  I have a 6"x8"  3/8" thick piece of SS plate. and I'm setting up a template to cut them with my plasma cutter.

Because I'm using side mounts welded to the frame, I have to make a rather tight turn coming out of the flange.

More to come!

Rick

I looked on his site and didn't find them.   Do you have a link for them?

Glad to see that he has them now!

The flanges were not listed on his site. But I asked when I purchased manifolds on 8-4-2014   . They were on my receipt on a separate line with no part # ..  the pair was 25.00   ..They are 3/8" thick and nicely made ..
