Well it turns out in the tear down of my motor that I have a cracked passenger side head. My heads that I have are ECZ-C's and my friend Alex has a good set of ECZ-B's. Other than the compression ratio, is their much difference in these heads? I can increase compression via shaved heads and/or domed pistons, just wonder if I should use these? I would LOVE some ECZ-G heads or 113's but trying to find them locally could be tough. Oh and before anyone says anything, unfortunately, aluminum heads are definitely NOT in the budget! 56 ECZ-B EDB-B 292 1.78" 8.0 k 200 4 bbl 56 Ford 56 ECZ-C 292 1.78" 8.4 c 202 4 bbl 56 Ford & T-Bird

Rob, Call Ted, or Mummert, or Tim. I'll bet they have something. I sold my 113's or you could have had those.

Frank I talked to John and he pretty much told me that by simply uping the compression with pistons, I would have the equivalent of what I have now. Alex told me that he read someplace that the ECZ-B heads actually flowed a little better than the "C" heads due to less "valve shrouding"???? John could not confirm this. I am looking to concentrate more on torque than I am on horse power, as per the primary use of my car. I mainly want a "tire fryer" that sounds "lumpy" when cruising! Interesting enough, my machinist told me that my engine had a "back yard" rebuild several years ago! He showed me that the cylinders had been simply ridge reamed and were actually "funneled" in shape! This caused for 3 broken rings and he is quite surprised that it ran as well as it did! I am buying a engine kit from John along with a cam and intake. I am not expecting a barn burner, but from how well my car ran with the mileage and condition of the motor, even my budget, performance, rebuild should be a noticeable improvement.

Rob, as long as you have the engine apart I would try hard to find some G or 113 heads.. I know Jerry C has some.. Barry L sees Jerry quite often and might get them back on your side of the border for u . Of course I am blathering here without checking with either individual.. LOL I sure would try hard to get the big valve heads before I put money in Cs or Bs.

Rob: I think those "B" heads may have been used on stick shift engines, noteing the slightly lower compression. U could mill them a bit to = the "C" heads. And I believe Mummert has 1.84 intake valves that should fit them. Although that mite then cause some shrouding, you'd have to enquire on that ... And could you do or afford some mild street porting? Somethings to kick around...

Rob I think the effort to get G or 113 heads would be worth the effort, I have both but getting them to you is the problem.. A road trip down to Maine to Bill's may be the best way out. You can pickup some of those big crawfish while you are down there!

Rob, it's Barry L, I have a set of unposted G heads. I'm in Manitoba, just west of Winnipeg. Maybe by Greyhound, shipping might be bearable. Heads are greasy and untested. PM me if you want, I can send you pics .

Thanks for the replies everyone! I guess the general consensus is to find the bigger valve heads! I may have a line on some locally, but will have to wait and see. Another option I have is to have them shipped to Niagara Falls NY. A friend has a PO Box there and can take shipments for me (size unlimited). This saves me brokerage fees, but I still have to pay tax on these items. My only other concern is having a set shipped all the way up only find they have cracks in them. So I would have to ask that whoever has a set could confirm that they are still good. I'm sorry if I sound pessimistic but have had that scenario before and I wouldn't want any hard feelings between my fellow Y-Blockers! If this works for anyone, please email me at 1956vicky@gmail.com, let me know what you want for a set and what it would cost me (approximately) to have them shipped to Niagara falls. The good thing is I am not in a hurry as this is a winter project and the motor will not be going back into the car until the spring. Thanks again to everyone for all your help!
