To all who replied to me about G heads, I want to thank you!!!! I found out today from my machinist that the G heads I found locally are good! This made me extremely happy as they cost me $200.00 Canadian, which I think is a good deal! Thanks again to everyone!

Thanks Frank! I don't expect to get that far as my car will be primarily a street cruiser! If Old Vicky gets down in the low 15's I would be ecstatic! She already fries the tires quite well, just want her to MELT the tires at will, plus when I pull into a cruise night, I want people to know that there is a healthy Y under the hood! The thing that is strange is that even fellow Y Blockers up here can't believe is how strong my 292 did run! When I first moved to this area, there were more rumors that I was running a FE big block than I can count! Funny about it it though, is now that we tore down the motor, I can't believe it even ran normal!!!! Besides the cracked head, a previous rebuild ( NOT ME) had ridge reamed the cylinders so bad that there was excessive piston slop on all cylinders (cylinders were funnel shaped) causing 3 pistons with broken rings and less than 7 to 1 compression in those cylinders! Also with a spun rod bearing, still had over 50 psi oil pressure @ 2500 RPM (35 psi @ 700 RPM idle!). If this isn't a testament to the old "Y" I don't know what is!!!!! Car ran great right up until engine pull and didn't burn oil! Only reason I decided to pull the engine was that I could hear a slight knock over 3000 RPM!

Rob, Good luck with that. I couldn't imagine duties on 60 year old auto parts, but then I'm a very poor politician! Remember, Wally ran 12's on a set of G heads before he went aluminum. Feistritzer and i still run 471's, mine are NOT ported.

To all, I MAY have scored a source of G or 113 heads 20 min from my house!!! I will let everyone know as soon as I find out! I also found out that I will not pay taxes on items coming across the boarder if they are under $500.00! So if my source doesn't pan out, shipping to Niagara Falls would be a viable option!!! Oh and Frank I only WISH I could afford to put a blower on my Y-Block!!! LOL

Rob, Barry's G's would work without a blower, or John F can show you how to post them with bolts thru the top. No duties from MB.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I guess the general consensus is to find the bigger valve heads! I may have a line on some locally, but will have to wait and see. Another option I have is to have them shipped to Niagara Falls NY. A friend has a PO Box there and can take shipments for me (size unlimited). This saves me brokerage fees, but I still have to pay tax on these items. My only other concern is having a set shipped all the way up only find they have cracks in them. So I would have to ask that whoever has a set could confirm that they are still good. I'm sorry if I sound pessimistic but have had that scenario before and I wouldn't want any hard feelings between my fellow Y-Blockers! If this works for anyone, please email me at 1956vicky@gmail.com, let me know what you want for a set and what it would cost me (approximately) to have them shipped to Niagara falls. The good thing is I am not in a hurry as this is a winter project and the motor will not be going back into the car until the spring. Thanks again to everyone for all your help!

Rob, it's Barry L, I have a set of unposted G heads. I'm in Manitoba, just west of Winnipeg. Maybe by Greyhound, shipping might be bearable. Heads are greasy and untested. PM me if you want, I can send you pics .
