The advance curve really is something you have to figure out on your own. 24 to 26 degrees by 3000rpm, with 10 -12 degrees initial will be a good starting point. The adapter looks like it should work. You might need to re route your vacuum line or use a spacer under it to clear the line, though. You probably don't need anything much bigger than a vacuum secondary 600 if the engine is stock.

Make sure you have the correct distributor gear for the Lincoln.. They are not the same as the Y block.. 600cfm carb is plenty. Yes that adapter will work. If it is a stock cam, set it up for about 12 degrees initial adavance and about 34 total at 3000 rpm. I use Autolite 45 plugs. Autolite 124 is a colder plug but the 45 should be good for your application.

There are no after market carb with the fuel line directly center rear. For the most part they are on the right side facing right and either at the front for Holleys and rear for Edelbrock/Carters. Holley makes a 465 cfm which is often overlooked. Good luck

Too much confusion comes from calling the 317-368 Lincoln engines Y engines. The 368 and other LYB (Lincoln Y-Block) engines use a 15 tooth distributor gear while the ’55 and up 272/292/312 Y engines use a 14 tooth gear. If you have the MSD #8383 distributor for the 292/312 Y engines, then the distributor gear will need to be changed out accordingly so the distributor will work in the LYB engines. Be sure to check that the distributor shaft sizes where the gear rides is the same on both distributors before attempting to move the distributor gears around. Here’s the link to an older thread basically discussing the same distributor gear incompatibility issue. http://forums.y-blocksforever.com/FindPost35890.aspx The general rule for spark plug gaps is 0.035” with a carburetor regardless of being point or electronic ignition. With the leaner mixtures afforded by a fuel injection system, then the spark plug gap can be made larger than this but this requires considerably more voltage. As the compression ratio goes up or if running an engine with boost, the spark plug gap is further reduced simply due to increased cylinder pressures putting a strain on existing ignition voltage capabilities.

If you order a distributor gear from MSD for a 390 Ford you will have the correct gear for your 368.
