Here you go. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=CCA-4920&autoview=skuThis looks just like the one I have. Mine came from Eastwood. Some of the fancier kits may work as well. They just don't get specific on the adapter thread sizes.

Local "old school" mechanic used "50s" tools to install MY new dampner (sledge hammer & wood block). It soon failed.
Buy the threaded tool (it's cheaper than balancer rebuilding), apply a piece of masking tape between dampner and front cover and watch it slacken so you can be sure crank threads are not being stripped.

There are tools specifically designed for installing the damper. For the Y, the 9/16 X 18 threads in the Y crankshaft snout just means you’ll have to search a little harder for the right tool unless you work up your own. Here’s a pic of the tool I modified to install dampers on the Y.

If it doesn't do a better job, it's definitely an easier job. I think it can be purchased at Summit Racing. I'd look it up now but I need to get to sleep.

Charlie, ok its off. When you suggested a harmonic balancer installer, did you mean something to pull it or is there really a tool that will install it? I am not sure how to get it back on correctly. I was just going to clean everything up, lube it, line it up with the key on the end of the crank and tap it on squarely until the threads on the bolt will reach the hole to pull it the rest of the way in. Is there a tool that will do a better job?

I don't see why not. You're half way there, anyway. A balancer installer will be a good tool to acquire if you don't already have one.

Regarding Balancer Questions, the engine is in the truck. I had to remove the front motor mount to swap it out. As long as I was in there, I raised the front of the engine just enough to drop the motor mount to frame bracket. The bracket would not come loose without pulling the dampner out a little under two inches. This allowed the mount to engine block drop out from between the dampner and the block. My question is, can I pull the dampner the rest of the way off without creating any more work for myself? I just want to clean up the front of the engine, paint some parts, and put it back like it was. Its running fine, other than someone installed the motor mount upside down, wrong bolts (too small) and put the bolts in upside down too. This is a YBlock

After soaking the Dampner bolt with the PB Blaster all weekend and using a friends impack which was stronger than mine we were able to get that bolt off and pull the balancer. Talk about Ford tuff! Then again that bolt was on for 52 years at 120lbs or so of torque. Thanks for all advice Rick

You are turning counter clockwise looking at the engine from the front aren't you?
